Rohan Havelock

Rohan practices in civil and commercial litigation, with particular expertise in the areas of construction, insurance, trusts and estates, and the law of unjust enrichment/restitution. He combines in-depth legal knowledge with sharp analysis in advising and acting on legal matters, including complex multi-party disputes.

Rohan previously practised commercial litigation as a Senior Associate at one of New Zealand’s leading law firms. There he worked on New Zealand’s largest ever construction litigation, involving a multi-million dollar claim that went to trial in the High Court for 9 months, before settlement was reached.

Rohan is a graduate of the University of Auckland and holds the degree of Master of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Leonard Coling scholar.

Rohan is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Auckland where he has taught Contract Law, Equity and Insurance Law, and has published numerous articles on these subjects and others. This includes co-editing New Zealand’s leading insurance law textbook, Colinvaux’s Law of Insurance in New Zealand, and writing the regular Insurance Law review for the New Zealand Law Review.
