What is the Eastern Busway project?

Auckland Transport is planning and constructing the Eastern Busway which will connect Pakuranga, Botany and the surrounding suburbs to the rail network in Panmure.

This project will involve the construction of five new bus stations, a new two-lane busway between Pakuranga and Botany that is fully separate from all other traffic and cycling and walking connections.

The Busway will be completed in sections:

  • Panmure station (complete)
  • Panmure to Pakuranga (complete)
  • Pakuranga to Botany

Auckland Transport is currently planning and designing the dedicated Busway between the Pakuranga and Botany town centres.

Who will this project affect?

This busway will involve significant construction and road works which will affect many property owners in the Pakuranga and Botany area.

The busway is proposed to run through Burswood, with new bus stations at Burswood, Gossamer and Edgewater drives.

To complete this project, Auckland Transport will need to acquire land under the Public Works Act from residential property owners in the area.
