Some landowners have been notified (by Te Tupu Ngatahi Supporting Growth; Waka Kotahi (NZTA); Auckland Transport), that some or all of their property may be required for transport projects sometime in the next 10 to 30 years.
If your land is affected by a designation or Notice of Requirement, your land may effectively be “frozen” (i.e. this can restrict your ability to sell, develop, or refinance the property, sometimes for many years).
In some situations, landowners may have the right to seek an early acquisition under the Public Works Act. We regularly assist landowners to do so, which reduces uncertainty and hardship.
